ParetoLogic provides support to build rehabilitation center for sexually exploited women

March 14, 2017  – Continuing its long tradition of helping children and families, ParetoLogic is making a large donation to a rehabilitation center for sexually exploited women in India.

The Victoria, B.C.-based software company is giving $25,000 towards the building of the Edward and Maggie Pires Center in north Goa, India. The center will help protect, enable, and empower young women and girls who are suffering from sexual exploitation.

The center is being built on property gifted to the Presentation Blessed Virgin Mary Sisters by the late Edward and Mary “Maggie” Pires. The couple are the grandparents of the four brothers who founded ParetoLogic.

“We are extremely happy to be able to help with this effort,” said Elton Pereira, ParetoLogic’s Co-Founder. “As a family and as a company we are proud to see this land being used for such an important cause and continue our tradition of supporting children and families close to home and around the world.”

Since its start, ParetoLogic has supported charities and community efforts that focus on children and families. A few of the organizations it has helped over the past decade are: Free The Children, World Vision, B.C. Children’s Hospital, Mustard Seed of Victoria, and the Our Place Society.

“This is the type of opportunity that we’ll continue to support. Raising awareness, being a positive influence, and shaping lives is a very important part of the ParetoLogic company culture,” Pereira said.

The work of the Presentation Blessed Virgin Mary Sisters provides rehabilitation through income generation activities for 120 women and girls who have been abused. The Edward and Maggie Pires Center will be constructed in Nagoa village, Bardez, North Goa. Along the beaches and town of Anjuna, Vagator, Calangute, Condolim, and Sinquerim, locals and females from neighbouring Indian states are forced into commercial sexual activity.

ParetoLogic is excited to be able to participate in this project in the names of their co-founders’ grandparents. Pereira recalls that his grandparents had very strong family values and always provided love and financial support to others in need both locally and abroad.
