Infected with MyWebSearch ?
The MyWebSearch program is a toolbar that uses a Web browser containing different tools that can be useful to a computer user.
The MyWebSearch toolbar, also known as the My Way Speedbar, consists of various tools like Webfetti, Popular Screensavers, Cursor Mania, My Mail Stationary, etc. This specific toolbar can be categorized as an adware under the following names:
* or Adtool.Win32.MyWebSearch.au Trojan.
This could also be a good tool to have an easy access to different popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Ask.com. It could serve as a pop up advertisement blocker and not to mention screensavers and cursors that would benefit the user. Every time the user does a search, he/she is now directed to the website of the MyWebSearch program.
As the MyWebSearch adware has been downloaded, certain files are now placed in a directory folder under Program files and as soon as this is processed, the toolbar "MyWebSearch" is now added upon the Internet Explorer browser. By creating such folder and toolbar, a registry key with no author can now be seen in the system. This could make the system unsafe and risky. There are also chances that the system could have an overloaded bandwidth and may possibly shut down.
Several users' and experts' reports claim that the infection can start taking place once the user makes a search. The MyWebSearch program can now send the information of the user to the remote intruder server. Some pieces of information of the user sent may possibly include keyword queries, type of the browser used, IP address, and the code that could name the kind of distributor installed.
This adware is allegedly running a method where it can possibly install the "mwsoemon.exe" and run some DLL where it could be defined as soon the Windows reboot.
