Peter B. Gustavson School of Business Selects Elton Pereira for Alumni Award

The University of Victoria's 2010-2011 Peter B. Gustavson School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented to Elton Pereira. Pereira, graduate of 1998, co-founded the thriving security and utility software company ParetoLogic.

Victoria, B.C., February 10, 2011 – In recognition of his exemplary achievements, Elton Pereira has been awarded the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award. Pereira, the CEO, President, and Co-founder of Victoria software developer ParetoLogic, received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria' Peter B. Gustavson School of Business in 1998. In 2004, he co-founded ParetoLogic, and transformed it into one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America.

"I am honored by this Distinguished Alumni award," said Pereira. "The education I received from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business was crucial to build ParetoLogic. For the world-class education that was made available to me, and for this award, I am truly grateful."

The Peter B. Gustavson Distinguished Alumni award is presented to alumni who show creativity, leadership qualities, and entrepreneurial spirit, and who have created businesses that demonstrate international growth.

Co-founded by Elton Pereira and his three brothers, ParetoLogic continues to be a success story for the IT sectors of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and Canada. The software company's first product served a high-demand security niche, providing the company with an instant hit and a foundation to build upon. Since then, over ten software products have been launched, propelling the company to award-winning financial growth.

"We've never been content to rest on our laurels," explained Pereira. "Growth doesn't occur on its own - you've got to constantly push your business forward with new ideas and new directions."

Pereira's energetic leadership strategy is one reason why a panel of judges selected him for the Distinguished Alumni award. It is also one reason why he was recently named a winner in the Pacific Regional Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and why ParetoLogic continues to make waves within Victoria, Canada, and globally.
